on Pro Series
This
document
applies
to all models of the GDZ Controller
except for entering the s2
security code, which applies to the GD
00Z
-8 model only
Setup Musts!
1. Before mounting, w
rite down the s2
dsk
Security code from the Z-
Wave Pl
us sticker on the
back of the Unit
. It will be the first 5 digits
and they will be underlined.
2. The GDZ comes with a Tilt Sensor that is paired to the Unit
and it must
be installed regardless if there is already
a sensor on the Garage door
for the Burglar Alarm
. The
paired
Tilt sensor will t
ell the GDZ the status
of the door and
confi
rm the Z
-Wave commands were received.

3. With the Tilt Sensor
mounted and the battery tab pulled and the GDZ unit installed and
powered up, open and close the Garage Door twice with the Garage Door push button to
synchronize
the system.
Z-Wave
Inclusion
1. To include
the GDZ put the panel in the Inclusion Mode and press the Link button on the
side of the unit once. The unit will beep once and the r
ed led will flash. The panel will ask
for the S2 Device PIN, the 5 d
igit
PIN
on the back of the unit
MUST be entered at this time.
Once entered the GDZ will beep 3 times indicating it has exited the inclusion mode, and the
Pa
nel
screen will show 0

for about 20 seconds as it confirms the
Pin
. Be patien
t after entering the PIN
, don't interrupt
the i
nclusion
process
until the screen
shows:

Press Done
2. From the 'Devices' screen the Garage Door should now show, with the correct status of the
Tilt Sensor.
3. Press
the
Garage Door
icon
on the Pro Panel display to
'Open' the Garage
Door.
The GD
Z
will
flash and beep for 5 seconds then will
momentarily
short the button lead wires to open
the door.
Once the Tilt sensor changes state and reports back to the GDZ the Garage Door
Icon on the Pro Panel will show 'Open'.
Things to keep in mind
1. The
GDZ will go into
a Lock
-Out mode if it does not get a response from the Tilt s
ensor
after 2 commands. It will cease to operate until it re
ceives a message from the Tilt sensor
indicating the state of the door.
2. If the GDZ
has sent a command to the Garage Door another command cannot be sent for
30 seconds.
3. The GDZ excludes the same way it includes, press the link button once. The GDZ will give
a long tone when excluded.
4. If the GDZ is not seeing the Tilt Sensor it will not function.
The
installer should check the
battery in the Tilt Sensor, or it can be manually paired to the Controller by following the
steps in the GDZ
instruction guide.
5. TC2 will show this message if the GDZ does not see the Tilt sensor respond to a command:
