Yes, an Interlogix Simon XT can be self-monitored. This is possible using the Alarm.com interactive service. If the system experiences an alarm event, it will forward the message to the Alarm.com servers. Alarm.com will then pass the message to the user so they can contact necessary help.

An alarm system is self-monitored if it receives active monitoring service without being connected with a central monitoring station. For these types of setups, emergency dispatch will not be automatically sent out based on an alarm event. Instead, a user will receive a text or email alert from Alarm.com letting them know about the alarm zone on their system. It is then entirely up to the user to contact the authorities, as needed. Still, some users prefer self-monitoring over central station monitoring due to its lower price-point and a possible reduced likelihood of false dispatches.

The Simon XT Panel is not capable of remotely alerting a user without a monthly service plan. Instead, the system will send a signal regarding an alarm event to the Alarm.com servers. Alarm.com will then pass the signal onto the user through a text and/or email alert. With that in mind, the Simon XT Panel must be connected with Alarm.com in order for the system to be self-monitored. Without this service, self-monitoring on a Simon XT is impossible.

However, the Simon XT Panel cannot readily connect with Alarm.com right out of the box. This is because Alarm.com requires any connected alarm system to utilize a cellular communication path. Without any add-ons, a Simon XT Panel can only use POTS (plain old telephone service) communication. A cellular communications module must be added to the system before cellular connectivity is possible. The user must also obtain a monitoring plan that includes cellular service. Only then can the system sync with Alarm.com. Once the Simon XT has synced with Alarm.com, it can then be set up for self-monitoring.
