How Do I Control Lights w/ an Interlogix Simon XT?
You can control lights with an Interlogix Simon XT using the Alarm.com interactive service, the Interlogix Two-Way Talking Touch Screen or with a key fob. The Interlogix Simon XT System will require a Z-Wave controller before the system can successfully interface with any Z-Wave lights.
The Interlogix Simon XT does not come with an integrated Z-Wave controller. Instead, the user must add a Z-Wave controller separately to use Z-Wave devices with the system. The only way to add a Z-Wave controller is with a cellular communicator. The same module that allows the Simon XT to interface with Alarm.com also includes a built-in Z-Wave controller. Once this device has been added, you can use the Interlogix Two-Way Talking Touch Screen, a key fob or the Alarm.com mobile app to control Z-Wave devices.
Once the Z-Wave controller has been added, the Z-Wave lights will need to be integrated into the Z-Wave network. This is done by activating the Z-Wave inclusion function on the Simon XT System (from within System Programming) and then pressing the enrollment button on the Z-Wave light. The system will confirm that the device was recognized. The device should also be displayed on Alarm.com.
However, the Simon XT System does not have a menu for controlling Z-Wave devices. Instead, a user must operate their Z-Wave lights using Alarm.com, the Interlogix Two-Way Touch Screen or a key fob. A user can utilize one of these access points to set any given Z-Wave light to on or off. Additionally, a user can establish rules and scenes to have their Z-Wave lights activate automatically based on specified system events. Some possible events might involve arming or disarming the system, activating a security sensor or based on the time of day. These rules and scenes can also include other types of Z-Wave devices, such as door locks and thermostats.
