How Do I Install Recessed Door Or Window Alarm Sensors?
To install a recessed contact in either a door or window, a hole must be drilled in the window frame or door jam with the diameter of the contact. Check your recessed contract for the dimensions and spacing gap for the magnet. After the hole is drilled, run a 2 conductor alarm wire from the alarm control panel to the newly drilled hole ( 22AWG- MAX distance 75ft, 20AWG- MAX distance 120ft, 18AWG- MAX distance 170ft , 16AWG- MAX distance 270ft).
Feed the wire through the hole and splice the connection to the 2 wire leads coming out the backside of the recessed contact. Press the contact into the hole until it is flush with the door or window frame. After installing the recessed contact, install the corresponding magnet. Drill a matching hole directly opposite the contact. Press the magnet into the hole.
When installing a wireless recessed sensor, there will be no wires to run, but make sure the antenna is as straight as possible when inserting into the frame.
Program the sensor into your alarm panel.
Test the door or window for communication.
