How Does Secure Arming Work On the IQ Panel 2 Plus?
Secure Arming works on the IQ Panel 2 Plus by requiring you to enter a valid user code when arming the system. You must also enter a valid code if you try to cancel an arming session before the system is fully armed. The feature can be enabled or disabled within the Security & Arming Menu.
By default, the Secure Arming feature is disabled on the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. When the feature is disabled, a user will not have to provide a code when arming the system. They also will not need to provide a code if they cancel an arming session by pressing the red X during the Exit Delay countdown while the system is Arming Away. The only time a user will need to provide a code is when they go to disarm the system after it is already fully armed.
But if the feature is enabled, then the user must enter a valid user code when arming. They will also be required to provide a valid code if they go to cancel an arming session by pressing the red X during the Exit Delay when Arming Away. Please note that the system's Installer Code (default 1111) and Dealer Code (default 2222) cannot be used as the access codes when secure arming. You must use the Master Code (default 1234) or any other valid user code.
Most users are fine leaving Secure Arming disabled, because it only slows them down when they go to arm their system. But some users might want to enable the feature for added security. It can be particularly useful if you have small children who might get into the system and accidentally arm it. Secure arming is also required if you want to keep a log of who is both arming and disarming the system. If you want to enable the feature, complete the following steps:
1. Access Security & Arming. The Secure Arming feature is found within the Security & Arming Menu. Start from the main screen of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. Click on the small grey bar at the top of the screen. Choose Settings > Advanced Settings > enter Installer Code (default 1111) > Installation > Security & Arming. You will enter the Security & Arming Menu.
2. Enable the feature. Scroll down to the Arming sub-section. You should find the option called "Secure Arming". Check the box next to the option to enable the feature. Make sure the box is checked before you exit the menu.
3. Return home. Click the picture of the house at the bottom of the screen. This will take you back to the home screen for the system. The change will be automatically saved.
