Is the Resideo PROA7 Compatible w/ All Resideo Door/Window Sensors?
The Resideo PROA7C and the Honeywell Home PROA7 are compatible with all PROSIX door and window sensors. Resideo makes both panels as well as the PROSIX wireless sensors but lists some as Honeywell Home products. The large family of PROSIX products are designed to work with the ProSeries panels.
First, let me explain Resideo products. Resideo makes identical products with different branding. The Honeywell Home PROA7 and Resideo PROA7C are the same product with different brand names on the front. For this reason, when we refer to a Honeywell Home panel, we are referring to the PROA7 and when referring to a Resideo panel, we mean the PROA7C. In the same manner, the Resideo PROA7PLUSC and the Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS are the same with the exception of the name displayed on the front. When it comes to RF sensor compatibility, the information for all four (4) of these ProSeries panels is interchangeable.
Resideo is the result of Honeywell deciding to spin its security business off into an entirely separate company. Honeywell made 5800 wireless sensors and SIX sensors. 5800 series wireless is compatible with the ProSeries panels only after adding the PROTAKEOVER module. This module allows you to select one (1) out of five (5) available legacy wireless options. When selecting 5800 wireless the PROTAKEOVER will support all one-way sensors. It will not provide support for bi-directional devices. These devices use a House ID to receive panel status. Examples include the 5800WAVE wireless siren and the 5828 wireless keypads. The original Honeywell SiX sensors are compatible without the need to add any additional modules.
Resideo manufactures the PROSIX line of sensors that are made specifically for these panels. They also continue to make SiX sensors that are compatible with the Honeywell Lyric Panels. SiX sensors are also compatible with the Resideo and Honeywell Home ProSeries Panels. Approximately 24-hours after a SiX sensor is enrolled into a ProSeries panel, it will get a firmware update. This basically turns it into a PROSIX sensor. Once this happens, it is no longer compatible with a Lyric System.
Resideo also makes the PROINDMV. The PROINDMV is a wireless motion detector that has a built-in video camera. It was released at around the same time, but it is not a PROSIX Series sensor and is not compatible with the Honeywell Home PROA7 or the Resideo PROA7C. The PROINDMV is only compatible with the plus versions, i.e. Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS and Resideo PROA7PLUSC. There is a complete line of PROSIX sensors that expand well beyond just door and window contacts. Check out the entire line of security, fire, carbon monoxide, and other environmental sensors. There are sure to be plenty of options that can help in protecting your home or business.
