Is there a Tilt Sensor Compatible w/ the Qolsys IQ Panel 2?
Yes, there is a tilt sensor compatible with the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. This is the Qolsys IQ Tilt-S. This device is a wireless garage door sensor that will let the system know when the garage door has been opened. The sensor can detect this event based on the angle at which it is positioned.
The Qolsys IQ Tilt-S is designed to let the IQ Panel 2 System and the user know when the garage door has been opened. The device is mounted near the top of the garage door. When the garage door is closed, the sensor will be at a vertical angle. When the garage door is opened, the sensor will change positioning to a horizontal angle. The IQ Tilt-S will detect this change and send a signal to the security system to let it know that the garage door has been opened or closed.
Once the sensor is activated, the system will perform an action based on the programming settings for that zone. In most cases, the IQ Panel 2 System will need to be disarmed within an extended garage door entry period or else an alarm will occur. The user can also check the panel or Alarm.com at any time to see if the garage door is currently opened. However, many users will want to use a compatible Z-Wave garage door opener with the system instead. This type of device will allow the user to open and close their garage door from the IQ Panel 2 or from Alarm.com. One compatible Z-Wave garage door opener is the Linear GD00Z.
Please note that the IQ Tilt-S operates at a frequency of 319.5 MHz. This makes it compatible with the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 (only with the standard 319.5 MHz daughterboard) and the Interlogix Simon Alarm Systems. For users of Honeywell, 2GIG or DSC Systems, a different garage door tilt sensor will need to be used.
