Which Sensors are Compatible with the Lyric Alarm System?

The sensors that are compatible with the Lyric Alarm System are the Honeywell SiX Series Sensors, the Honeywell 5800 Series Sensors and the 2GIG 345 MHz Sensors. Hardwire sensors can also be used, though a compatible wired to wireless converter may need to be used with the alarm system.

The Honeywell Lyric Controller is a wireless self-contained alarm system that includes a 345 MHz wireless receiver and a 2.4 GHz WIFI card. The panel uses this integrated equipment to communicate with wireless security sensors. Only 345 MHz wireless sensors and compatible encrypted 2.4 GHz sensors can be used with the system. Any sensor that is used will require at least one wireless zone on the system. The Lyric Controller supports up to 128 total wireless zones.

The Honeywell SiX Series Sensors operate at 2.4 GHz, and they are exclusively compatible with the Lyric System. These sensors are protected by 128-bit AES encryption. This means that both the panel and the transmitter hold an encryption key. All information transmitted back and forth between the devices is encrypted before being sent, then decrypted once it's received. This process is sometimes referred to as a "digital handshake", and it is excellent for protecting the system against digital hacks. Any SiX Series Sensor can be batched enrolled with the system for easy enrollment.

The Lyric Controller will also work with unencrypted 345 MHz wireless sensors. This includes any Honeywell 5800 Series Sensor and any 2GIG Sensor. These sensors can be auto-enrolled with the system by putting the system into its learn mode and then faulting and restoring the sensor three times. The settings for the sensor can then be configured. This includes choosing a Zone Descriptor, setting a Response Type and more.

Hardwired sensors can also be used with the Lyric Controller. There are two wired zone inputs built into the panel. These can be used only for non-powered door or window contacts. If replacing a wired alarm panel, a wired to wireless converter can also be used. The hardwired sensors will connect directly to the converter, and the converter will then send a compatible wireless signal to the Lyric Controller on behalf of the sensors. Each hardwired sensor will require its own wireless zone on the Lyric Controller. A compatible wired to wireless converter to use for this application is the Honeywell 5800C2W.
