Will Honeywell 5800 Sensors Work on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?
No, Honeywell 5800 Sensors will not work on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5. These systems are designed to be used with 319.5 MHz sensors. These sensors include the Interlogix/GE sensors and the unencrypted Qolsys Sensors. But Honeywell 5800 Sensors operate at the 345 MHz frequency.
An alarm system communicates with wireless sensors using a wireless receiver. For all-in-one wireless systems like the Simon XTi and XTi-5, a wireless receiver is typically integrated into the system. Each wireless receiver is designed to accept incoming signals at a particular frequency. For the Simon XTi and XTi-5 Systems, their wireless receiver monitors for signals at the 319.5 MHz frequency. Wireless sensors that use this frequency include Interlogix/GE sensors and unencrypted Qolsys Sensors. Any of these sensors will work with the Simon XTi and XTi-5 Systems.
However, Honeywell 5800 Series Sensors operate at 345 MHz. This makes them incompatible with the wireless receiver used with the Simon XTi and XTi-5 Systems. That said, these systems can communicate with Honeywell 5800 Sensors by using a device that converts the 345 MHz frequency into the 319.5 MHz frequency. But without this device, using 5800 Series Sensors with a Simon XTi or XTi-5 is impossible.
But owners of the Simon XTi and XTi-5 still have many sensor options. All Interlogix Sensors operate at the 319.5 MHz frequency. These sensors were previously sold under the GE brand name, and all of the older GE Sensors will work as well. Qolsys Sensors also operate at the 319.5 MHz frequency, and they can be used with a Simon XTi or XTi-5 System. The Qolsys S-Line Sensors, which are encrypted, will work with the Simon XTi or XTi-5, but they will not have their encryption features enabled. For a more complete list of compatible sensors, we suggest checking out the Qolsys Sensor Compatibility List. Although it is designed for the Qolsys IQ Panel, this list also applies to the Interlogix Systems.
