DSC MX926KT
DSC MX926 Wired Addressable Smoke Detector Kit w/MXBase
Description
The DSC MX926KT is a kit containing the MX926 wired addressable smoke detector and the MXBASE. These two items work together to connect to the HSM3105 MX Expansion module. It, in turn, connects to the Corbus of the Qolsys IQ Pro and provides the panel with the ability to use DSC's MX expansion.
Although each DSC MX926 requires an MXBASE in order to connect to the Qolsys IQ Pro panel, the two devices are sold separately. This makes sense for future instances where a user may need to replace only the smoke detector or only the base. For those who are building a new system, we offer this kit as well as the MX916KT wired addressable smoke and heat detector with MXBASE and the MX936KT wired addressable heat detector with MXBASE.
The MX926 can be used in both residential and commercial applications. The optical method used by the MX926 to detect smoke operates with an internal infrared LED, a barrier, and a photodiode light receptor. The photodiode light receptor is what triggers the alarm, the barrier prevents the light of the infrared LED from reaching the photodiode light receptor under normal conditions. When smoke particles enter the sensing chamber, the LED light is scattered and is detected by the photodiode light receptor. This causes an alarm. This detection method is widely used and offers good false alarm immunity.
The MXBASE is a 4" base and is where the wiring terminals for the MX926 reside. Without the MXBASE, there would be no way to connect the smoke detector to the IQ Pro as it has no screw terminals of its own. The MX926 securely mounts to the MXBASE. It also has a locking pin that can be inserted to prevent the MX926 from easily rotating off the base. Once the locking pin has been inserted, you must use a small tool and insert it into the access hole to release the locking pin in order to remove the MX926 from the base.
All of the MX device wiring should be completed while the Qolsys IQ Pro is powered down. This includes connecting the HSM3105 to the Corbus, and then attaching each MX device to the HSM3105. Once all devices have been connected, power the panel on and connect using the Qolsys IQ Installer app. Begin the auto-enrollment process, and then once each device has been recognized, complete the configuration using the app to adjust any settings you like. There are some settings, such as the supervision interval, that are hardcoded and cannot be changed.
