Description
The Honeywell LTE-IA is the perfect communicator for Honeywell VISTA users with strong service from AT&T. This is a dual-path communicator that works primarily across a local IP network. During an internet outage, it will maintain connectivity with AlarmNet through the AT&T LTE Network.
The importance of dual-path connectivity for an alarm system cannot be stressed enough. By connecting with both IP and cellular, your system gets the best of both worlds. In most cases, your VISTA System will be sending out signals across an ultra-fast IP network through a hardwired ethernet connection. But since internet outages are relatively common, the AT&T LTE Connection provides a reliable backup you can count on. Going with a dual-path communicator is the best way to ensure that your panel stays monitored at all times and that your home or business is always protected.
The Honeywell LTE-IA uses the AT&T LTE Network as its backup communication path. LTE stands for "Long-Term Evolution", and it represents some of the latest technology in cellular communications. Service providers like AT&T have promised to support their LTE network well into the distant future, even as newer 5G networks come into service. By going with a communicator that supports LTE, you are making an important long-term investment for your alarm panel. This will allow you to keep it monitored for many years to come. And it also doesn't hurt that LTE communication is quite fast.
Another benefit of using the Honeywell LTE-IA is that you will be able to connect your VISTA System with the Total Connect 2.0 Platform. This is an excellent service that you can access at any time using a web browser or a mobile app on your Android or iOS device. By accessing your TC2 account, you can arm and disarm your system, check its current status, control your Z-Wave devices, and more. We strongly recommend pairing a Honeywell Tuxedo Touch or a Honeywell VAM with your VISTA so that you can start building a Z-Wave network. You will also need a Gold Plan or higher from Alarm Grid to take full advantage of the LTE-IA and all its great features. More information can be found on our alarm monitoring page.
The Honeywell LTE-IA is compatible with the VISTA P-Series Panels and the VISTA Turbo Series Panels. Most of these panels can support Total Connect 2.0. If you have a VISTA 15P, VISTA 20P, or VISTA 2iP, it will need to be running a high enough firmware version. The 15P and 20P Systems require a firmware version of 9.12 or higher. The 21iP System requires a firmware version of 3.13 or higher. The newer VISTA-21iPLTE supports TC2 with all panel versions. If you are not sure of the current firmware version, you can find it by checking the PROM Chip on the system. The PROM Chip is a small black chip found on the panel's main board. There should be a white sticker on the chip that begins with the letters "WA". You can use the code written on the chip to determine the firmware version. If you need to upgrade the chip, we offer replacements for the 15P, 20P, and 21iP.
Please note that a Verizon LTE Dual-Path Communicator called the Honeywell LTE-IV is also available. It can be found here.
There is a newer Resideo LTEM-PIA communicator. It offers built-in Ethernet and an LTE Cat-M1 communicator. If Ethernet wiring is not available, a PROWIFI or PROWIFIZW module can be added, allowing this communicator to use WIFI, or WIFI and Z-Wave Plus, respectively.
