What are Sensor Groups on the Qolsys IQ Panel 2?
Sensor Groups on the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 are used to determine how the system responds when the sensor associated with that zone is faulted. This setting is basically the same as the Response Type setting on Honeywell Panels. The Sensor Group setting is set while programming the sensor.
When adding or editing a sensor, you will see an option for setting the Sensor Group. To access the setting, start by pressing the small grey bar at the top of the screen. Then choose Settings > Advanced Settings > Installer Code (default 1111) > Installation > Devices > Security Sensors > Add Sensor. The option will be shown just like in the picture below:
Please note that not all Sensor Groups will be readily available from this menu. Some Sensor Groups will only be accessible by auto-enrolling a specific type of sensor. Others will only be available on certain system Firmware Versions. You might want to try auto-learning the sensor if you are looking for a specific Sensor Group and you do not see it available from this screen.
Note that some Sensor Groups might have the same code. If two groups share a code, then they basically do the same thing. The only difference between them is that the Sensor Groups numbers are specifically designed for different sensor types. Remember, different Sensor Groups will be available depending on the type of sensor that is being enrolled.
Note: This list is complete as of Firmware Version 2.5.0.
The table below lists most of the available Sensor Groups on the IQ Panel 2. Note that there may be additional groups beyond what is listed below:
Sensor Group |
Notes |
0 Fixed Intrusion | Panic Switch Zone. Designed for panic switches that are installed in fixed locations. Will trigger an audible Police Panic Alarm when activated. |
1 Mobile Intrusion | Panic Switch Zone. Designed for panic switches that are worn or carried on one's person. Will trigger an audible Police Panic Alarm when activated. |
2 Fixed Silent | Panic Switch Zone. Designed for panic switches that are installed in fixed locations. Will trigger a silent Police Panic Alarm when activated. |
4 Fixed Auxiliary | Medical Auxiliary Zone. Designed for medical alert buttons that are installed in fixed locations. Will trigger a Medical Emergency Alarm when activated. |
6 Mobile Auxiliary | Medical Auxiliary Zone. Designed for medical alert buttons that are worn or carried on one's person. Will trigger a Medical Emergency Alarm when activated. |
8 Reporting Safety Sensor | Safety Zone. Triggers an immediate alarm when sensor is faulted, regardless of whether the system is Armed or Disarmed. Only works when "Activity Monitoring" is enabled. |
9 Delayed Reporting Safety Sensor | Safety Zone. User must disarm the system within the Entry Delay period after the sensor has been faulted, or else an alarm will occur. Alarm can go into effect whether the system is Armed or Disarmed. Only works when "Activity Monitoring" is enabled. |
10 Entry-Exit Normal Delay | Entry/Exit Zone. If this zone is activated while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay, the user must Disarm the system within the Entry Delay period, or else an alarm will occur. If this zone is activated during the Exit Delay period, it will allow the system to successfully enter Arm Away mode if the Auto-Stay Arming option is enabled. This is the default Sensor Group option. |
12 Entry-Exit Long Delay | Entry/Exit Zone. If activated while the system is Armed Away or Stay, user must disarm within the Entry Delay period, or else an alarm will occur. If activated during exit delay, will allow the system to enter Arm Away mode with Auto-Stay Arming enabled. Same as Sensor Group 10, but uses longer delay period to give user more time to disarm the system upon entering. |
13 Glass Break |
Glass Break Zone. Will trigger immediate alarm if sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. |
13 Hardwired Translator Takeover | Tamper Zone for wired to wireless converter module. Triggers an immediate alarm if device's tamper switch is activated while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. |
13 Instant Perimeter D/W | Perimeter Door/Window Zone. Will trigger immediate alarm if sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. |
13 Glass Break | Glass Break Sensor Zone. Will trigger immediate alarm if sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. |
13 Shock | Shock Sensor Zone. Will trigger immediate alarm if sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. |
13 Wireless Translator | Tamper Zone for wireless translator module. Triggers an immediate alarm if device's tamper switch is activated while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. |
14 Instant Interior Door | Interior Door Zone. Will trigger immediate alarm if sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay, unless an Entry/Exit zone is activated first. |
15 Stay Instant Motion | Perimeter Motion Zone. Will trigger immediate alarm if sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay, unless an Entry/Exit zone is activated first. |
16 Away Instant Follower Delay | Interior Door Zone. Will trigger immediate alarm if sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away. |
17 Away Instant Motion | Interior Motion Zone. Will trigger immediate alarm if sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away, unless an Entry/Exit zone is activated first. |
17 Glass Break - Away Only | Glass Break Sensor Zone. Will trigger immediate alarm if sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away. |
17 Shock - Away Only | Shock Sensor Zone. Will trigger immediate alarm if sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away. |
20 Away Delay Motion | Interior Motion Zone. If this zone is activated while the system is Armed Away, the user must Disarm the system within the Entry Delay period, or else an alarm will occur. |
25 Garage Tilt - Safety Tilt | Chime Only Zone. Will activate a chime when garage tilt sensor is faulted, regardless of whether the system is Armed or Disarmed. |
25 Local Safety Sensor | Chime Only Zone. Will activate a chime when sensor is faulted, regardless of whether the system is Armed or Disarmed. Only works when "Activity Monitoring" is enabled. Commonly used with programmed doorbells and for supervision purposes. |
25 Non-Reporting | Environmental Sensor Zone. Used with Flood, Freeze, and Temperature Sensors. Will not report to central station. But will report to Alarm.com. New to Version 2.5.0 |
25 Occupancy Sensor | Activity Zone. Used for monitoring system activity. Will not report to a central station. Commonly used for supervision purposes. |
25 Safety Auxiliary Pendant | Chime Only Zone. Will activate a chime when sensor is faulted, regardless of whether the system is Armed or Disarmed. Used for local alerts only, such as a nurse call button. Will not report an alarm to a central station. |
25 Safety Motion | Chime Only Motion Zone. Will activate a chime when sensor is faulted, regardless of whether the system is Armed or Disarmed. Only works when "Activity Monitoring" is enabled. |
26 Smoke-Heat | Fire Zone. Triggers an immediate alarm when sensor detects smoke or rapid rise in heat. |
33 Siren | Siren Supervision Zone. Used for supervising wireless sirens. Will report to central station if the system is unable to detect a programmed siren. |
34 CO Detector | Carbon Monoxide Zone. Triggers an immediate alarm when sensor detects carbon monoxide gas. |
35 Stay Delay Motion | Perimeter Motion Zone. If the sensor is activated while the system is armed, the user must disarm within the Entry Delay period, or else an alarm will occur. Alarm will not go into effect if an entry/exit zone is activated first. |
