The Lutron Caseta Single In-Wall Dimmer Starter Kit with Smart Bridge is great for new users who want to achieve a basic Lutron Smart Lighting setup. This kit includes a Lutron Caseta Smart Bridge, a Lutron In-Wall Light Dimmer Switch, a Pico Remote and wall plate for the dimmer.

The Lutron Smart Bridge serves as the central hub for the rest of the setup. This device provides the user with the ability to control their integrated Lutron devices remotely using the Lutron Mobile App or Apple HomeKit. It also allows a user to operate their Lutron devices using voice commands that are sent through Siri, Google Home or Amazon Alexa. Any command that is sent out will first pass through the Lutron Smart Bridge before being forwarded to the actual Lutron device. The bridge also allows the user to create smart scenes so that their lights activate based on a predetermined schedule or with geofencing location. This bridge requires a wired ethernet connection to a router or network switch so it can connect to the Internet.

The In-Wall Light Dimmer Switch replaces an existing light switch for toggling and dimming a light load. The lights will wire into the back of the Lutron Switch so that they can be controller. One thing that makes the Lutron dimmer so great is that no neutral wire is required for the setup. This makes the installation and wiring process is a life saver for homeowner with older electrical wiring that only has a line and load without a neutral wire. The included wall plate offers a clean, screwless wall plate to blend this dimmer into your other home decor.

The Pico Remote is a wireless remote for operating the lights while a user is on-site and in range with the dimmer (30 ft with walls, 60 ft open air). In addition to being able to control the in-wall dimmer, it could also be programmed to operate a Lutron Lamp Dimmer Module (purchased separately) or any other compatible Lutron lighting control device. Please note that a Pico Remote can only be programmed to operate one Lutron device at any given time. It requires a pairing process that locks control to that specific device. This can be changed at any time.

The pico can float around on a coffee table, be sat on a pedestal mount or even wall mounted with the wallplate adapter.

The Honeywell Lyric Controller also supports Apple HomeKit once firmware version 1.07 or higher has been applied. This means that users can have Lutron devices activate based on security events. This includes arming and disarming, sensor activations and alarm events.
