Qolsys IQ4 Hub, AT&T LTE, PowerG
915 MHz Wireless Alarm Panel
Description
The Qolsys IQ4 Hub with support for PowerG and an AT&T LTE cellular communicator is a sleek and sophisticated all-in-one alarm system with a 7" touchscreen interface. It has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 core SOM (System on a Module) processor as the IQ Panel 4, and can easily manage all of your security and automation needs.
The IQ4 Hub offers all of the popular features of the IQ Panel 4, without some of the more advanced features that many users deem unnecessary. By including only the most desirable features, Qolsys is able to keep the price of the IQ4 Hub down. The IQ4 Hub only supports a single RF frequency for security sensors. This too helps to keep the price low, at a time when many users are looking to save money.
This version of the IQ4 Hub comes with an AT&T LTE cellular communicator built-in. AT&T LTE boasts excellent coverage in the US and many other areas of North America. By utilizing the AT&T LTE communicator, you are giving your alarm system the best possible opportunity to deliver any emergency signals to Alarm.com and the monitoring station, if applicable. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution, and cellular companies have promised to support the LTE Network far into the future. If you happen to live in an area where AT&T coverage is less than ideal, we also offer a Verizon LTE version of this system.
In addition to the AT&T LTE cellular communicator that comes built-in, the IQ 4 Hub also has a dual-band WIFI communicator. Use of WIFI is optional, whereas cellular is mandatory when signing up for Alarm.com service, but with a WIFI connection, the IQ4 Hub becomes a dual-path alarm system. Alarm.com treats dual-path a little differently than some other signal transport providers. When an Alarm.com-compatible system has both an IP and a cellular path, all signals are sent via both paths at once. The signal that reaches Alarm.com first is processed and forwarded to the end user and/or the monitoring station if a Full Monitoring Plan is being used. The signal received second is discarded. In this way, Alarm.com ensures that the fastest available path is always used for each individual signal the alarm panel sends.
This version of the IQ4 Hub supports PowerG wireless sensors. PowerG is a phenomenal lineup of wireless sensors that offer incredible range. Individual wireless sensors can achieve a range of around 4,000' (1,219m) away from the IQ4 Hub. If the available wireless range is still not enough, PowerG repeaters are available and can offer up to double the range in any given direction. The PowerG lineup of sensors is deep with a sensor for nearly every need. If you can't find a wireless sensor that to fit your application, or if you need to convert wired sensors to wireless in order to have them work with this panel, then the DSC PG9HRDW8 or DSC PG9WLSHW8 wired to wireless converters can be used.
For automation, the IQ4 Hub supports Z-Wave Plus 800-Series. This latest advancement in Z-Wave technology offers another improvement to module battery life and transmitting range. Support for Z-Wave adds the ability to control lights, locks, thermostats, garage doors, motorized shades, and other automation devices. Using Alarm.com, scenes can be created to automate many household functions. This can be a real time-saving feature while navigating your day-to-day activities. As always, the IQ4 Hub is backward compatible with all versions of Z-Wave modules, including modules using the original Z-Wave protocol. Just be aware of the limitations when mixing older and newer Z-Wave devices.
The Qolsys IQ4 Hub supports the ability to view compatible Alarm.com video cameras on the panel's touchscreen. The 2-way communication feature that is available on some video cameras is not supported, however Live Answer for the Alarm.com video doorbells is still supported. For this feature, the IQ4 Hub has one microphone and one speaker built-in. The panel also supports Bluetooth for touchless disarming and music streaming. The IQ4 Hub offers ease of installation with the SmartMount system, however, it is not compatible with the IQ Base.
