How long does the Honeywell VISTA-20P siren sound for?
A Honeywell VISTA-20P has an alarm sounder output that can drive alarm sirens and bells. The operating current of all of combined wired sirens on a VISTA-20P can not exceed 2 Amps. All sirens connected to the alarm sounder output will ring an alarm when the alarm control panel goes into alarm mode. By default, the VISTA-20P sirens will continue to sound an alarm for (4) minutes after the alarm was tripped. However, you can program your VISTA-20P with a different bell timeout span.
The VISTA-20 bell timeout is programmed in field *33 within your alarm control panel's programming. After entering installer program mode, press *33 to to edit the alarm sounder timeout time. Pressing a '0' will set the timeout to 'none'. Pressing a '1' will confirm the default time of (4) minutes. Pressing a '2' will set the bell timeout span to (8) minutes. Pressing '3' programs a (12) minute timeout and pressing '4' programs the maximum alarm sounder timeout period of (16) minutes. Exit programming, after changing your bell timeout, by pressing *99 and you can then test the programming change by arming your VISTA-20P and tripping an alarm. The sirens will continue to sound the alarm until the programmed time allotted expires. Of course, you can manually silence the sirens before the bell timeout by disarming the system.
To comply with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards for commercial burglary installations, you should program your VISTA-20P bell timeout to be (16) minutes. Residential fire alarm installations must have a minimum of (4) minute bell timeout.
