Hi DIYers! We are happy to announce that we have some new long-range motion sensor options available on our website. These long-range motions are good for long, narrow areas such as hallways. You now have more options in choosing the perfect motion sensor for your home or business.

Optex wnx 40hw wireless pet friendly pir motion detector for hon

The first new product we would like to discuss may seem relatively minor, but it actually opens up a whole new world of possibilities for motion detection. We are now pleased to offer the Optex FL-60N Long-Range Lens. This convenient device replaces the stock lens for an Optex WNX-40 Series Motion Sensor. Once the lens is added, the motion sensor will enjoy a long-range coverage area of 60 feet by 6 feet. It's very easy to swap out the old lens, and the process can be completed by any DIY user.

Alarm Grid offers four (4) different Optex WNX-40 Series Motion Detectors. We have an option available for nearly every wireless alarm panel that we carry. If you don't have one of these sensors yet, make sure you choose the correct model when purchasing. You need to make sure that the frequency the sensor uses for wireless communication is compatible with your security system.

The following motion sensors from our website are compatible with the Optex FL-60N:

In addition to the Optex FL-60N Long-Range Lens, we now offer the complete Honeywell DT900-Series lineup of hardwired, long-range DUAL TEC motion sensors. Before, we only offered the Honeywell DT906. Now we offer the DT900, DT901, and DT907 long-range motion sensors as well. These are all hardwired motion sensors that connect directly with a hardwired alarm panel or a compatible wired to wireless converter. The motion sensor use these wired connections for both power and data transmissions.

If you're wondering how these four DT900-Series motion sensors differ, it is actually quite simple. Both the DT906 and the DT907 have the same selectable detection ranges. You can choose between a coverage area of 200 feet by 15 feet, or 120 feet by 10 feet. However, only the DT906 has an anti-masking feature. The DT907 does not. Meanwhile, with the DT900 and the DT901, you can choose between a coverage area of either 90 feet by 70 feet, or 50 feet by 40 feet. But in this case, the DT900 has anti-masking, while the DT901 lacks this feature. Other than that, these are mostly the same sensors.

If you have any questions about these new long-range motion sensor options, or if you want to find out if a long-range motion sensor is right for you, please reach out to us. The best way to contact us is to email support@alarmgrid.com. Our team will check your email as soon as possible and reply back as soon as we can. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you find the perfect motion sensor for your needs.

Hi DIYers! We are here to announce today that we have some new products available on our site. Our new offerings include the DSC Iotega Alarm System, several new Z-Wave Plus in-wall light switches, and even some hand tools that you can use to install your security system and sensors!

First we will talk about the DSC Iotega System. The Iotega is one of the newest alarm systems from DSC. This is one of the few systems on the market with Apple HomeKit support. It is the only system that can support both HomeKit and PowerG Sensors. These wireless sensors are great, as they offer an astounding range of up to 2km in open air (4km with wireless repeater) and 128-bit AES encryption for added wireless protection.

Alarm Grid already sells the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus with PowerG support, which is one of our most favorite systems. We also sell the HomeKit-ready Resideo Lyric Alarm System, an exceptional system in its own right. But if you want to use both PowerG Sensors and Apple HomeKit, then you are stuck with the DSC Iotega.

The Iotega has a major drawback in that it does not support local programming. This makes the panel a poor choice for DIY users, as they cannot complete their own programming. But if you need a HomeKit-compatible system with PowerG support, the Iotega fulfills that niche. The system is also compatible with the Alarm.com interactive platform for remote access, Z-Wave Plus control and more. Please note that cellular monitoring service is require to use Alarm.com.

In addition to the DSC Iotega With Built-In Verizon LTE Communicator, we also now sell an Iotega 3-1 System Kit (System w/ Three (3) Door and Window Contacts & One (1) Motion Sensor), an Iotega Touchscreen Keypad and a desk mount for the touchscreen keypad.

Next for our new product releases are a plethora of new in-wall Z-Wave Plus smart lighting switches from Go!Control and GE. These products are great for any homeowner who wants to take smart control over their lights for remote operation and smart scene functionality. Go!Control and GE both offer some fantastic smart lighting devices, and we are excited to add these products to our growing lineup.

Perhaps the smart lighting device we are most excited about is the Go!Control WT00Z5-1 Z-Wave 3-Way Smart Switch. This in-wall switch controls lighting loads already connected with a load-bearing switch or dimmer. The module can connect with up to five (5) load-bearing switches for 7-way operation. Fewer load-bearing devices can be used if that is all that is needed for the setup.

But what makes the Go!Control WT00Z5-1 unique is that it eliminates the need for a traveler wire. Instead, the module uses Z-Wave Plus technology to send all communication signals. All you need to do for setup is connect the 120VAC line and a neutral wire. This is great for DIY installers who may not feel comfortable running a traveler wire.

Other Z-Wave Plus devices now available from Alarm Grid include:

Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures of the new Z-Wave Plus devices quite yet. But we hope to have them on the site in the near future.

Finally, we have a few hand tools that can help new users install their systems and sensors. These new offerings include the a wire stripper tool, a digital multimeter, a 6-in-1 screwdriver, and 13-piece screwdriver set. Not only are these tools great for setting up your system, they are also perfect for using around the house or around the shop in general. They are all high quality tools that make an excellent addition to any tool set.

We hope that our new and existing customers can put these latest Alarm Grid products to good use. If you have any questions about these new products, please send an email to support@alarmgrid.com. We look forward to hearing from you and discussing these new products!

Hi DIYers! We would like to inform you that the VERSA-2GIG Door and Window Contacts have received an update. These changes should not affect device compatibility or performance. However, they will effect the way these devices are enrolled with a panel and how maintenance is performed.

Versa 2gig honeywell lyric and 2gig compatible sensor pow

The VERSA-2GIG Contacts operate at 345 MHz. They are designed for use with 2GIG Systems (GC2 and GC3) and the Resideo Lyric Controller (Version MR3 or higher). These surface-mounted devices operate like any standard door and window contact sensor. Each unit includes a sensor and an accompanying magnet. The sensor is mounted on the door or window frame, while the magnet is mounted on the door or window itself. When the door or window is opened, the magnet will separate from the sensor and cause it to activate. The sensor will then alert the panel to let the system know that the door or window has been opened.

Alarm Grid recently learned that the VERSA-2GIG Door and Window Sensors have been updated. The new model enrolls using Loop 1 and has a convenient slide-off cover. Additionally, a tab on the side of the device indicates which side should be facing the accompanying magnet. This is a change from the older style. The old model of the VERSA-2GIG is enrolled using Loop 2 and has a pop-off cover. Both devices have a yellow inner board that allows you to differentiate them from the VERSA-GE Sensors (blue board) and the Honeywell 5800MINI Sensors (red board).

This change should not affect the performance of the VERSA-2GIG or its compatibility. At this time, we are only aware of changes to the VERSA-2GIG Sensors. We have not received any news of changes for the VERSA-GE Sensors or the Honeywell 5800MINI Sensors. Alarm Grid will produce an update post if we learn of any changes to these sensors.

At this time, we cannot control which version of the VERSA-2GIG Sensors you will receive when placing an order. Some old-style sensors are still being sent out, while other customers are reporting that they have received the new style. It is even possible that you may receive a mix of old and new VERSA-2GIG Sensors with a system kit. Please be aware that these sensors operate exactly the same, and you should not notice any difference in device performance. The new-style VERSA-2GIG Sensors work just as well as the old-style ones. The only functional difference is the cover.

Remember, if you have a new-style VERSA-2GIG Sensor with a slide-off cover, it will enroll to your system using Loop 1. If you have an old-style VERSA-2GIG Sensor with a pop-off cover, it will enroll to your system using Loop 2. You can always auto-enroll your sensor, and the Loop Number should populate automatically. We recommend auto-enrolling whenever possible to check device communication and to avoid making a mistake when manually entering the Serial Number.

If you have any questions about this change, please reach out to us at support@alarmgrid.com, or call us at (888) 818-7728 during our regular business hours of 9am to 8pm EST M-F. We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi DIYers! We are happy to announce that we are offering a sale on the iGSMV4G and the iGSMV4G-TC2 effective immediately. The iGSMV4G can be purchased for $50. The iGSMV4G-TC2 is available for $60. These are AT&T 4G Cellular Communicators that allow VISTA Panels to connect with AlarmNet360.

Honeywell igsmv4g honeywell dual path alarm monitoring communica

Earlier this year, AT&T announced the sunset of their 3G and 4G networks. By February 2022, it will no longer be possible to use an AT&T 3G/4G with your alarm system. You must upgrade to an LTE communicator by then. Additionally, AlarmNet will no longer allow activations for AT&T 3G Communicators and AT&T 4G Communicators starting Wednesday June 26th, 2019.

We still have some iGSMV4G and iGSMV4G-TC2 products in stock. We want to get rid of them before they become unusable. This is a perfect opportunity to get your Resideo VISTA System online for a very low price. With these communicators, you can access Total Connect 2.0 and use all of the available features. Please note that you will need a Gold Plan or higher to activate a cellular communicator with Alarm Grid. Also, we cannot offer overnight orders for these products.

If you do get one of these communicators, you must activate the module before June 26th. After that date, it will be impossible to activate the cellular portion of the communicator. Additionally, if you deactivate the communicator or discontinue service for any reason, you will not be able to reactivate this unit for cellular service after June 26th. You will still be able to use the communicator for Internet Communication only after this date.

Resideo has stated that more recently manufactured modules will be able to be activated for up to 180 days after June 26th. However, we cannot guarantee that a new iGSMV4G will be able to be activated after that date. For your own planning, you should not expect an AT&T 3G or 4G communicator to be activated after June 26th.

The Honeywell iGSMV4G is a dual-path AlarmNet Communicator for Resideo VISTA Series Systems. It uses AT&T 4G and hardwired ethernet to connect with the AlarmNet Servers and provide access to Total Connect 2.0. This module will provide fast and reliable connectivity until February 2022. The cellular portion of the module will no longer work after February 2022. At that time, you will want to upgrade to a newer LTE communicator. We are offering the iGSMV4G for $50.

The Honeywell iGSMV4G-TC2 is a bundled kit that includes the iGSMV4G module, as well as the necessary PROM Chip upgrades for the VISTA-15P and VISTA-20P Alarm Systems. You should purchase this kit if your 15P or 20P System is running a firmware version of at least 2.0, but less than 9.12. Any 15P or 20P system running less than version 9.12 will not be able to be used with Total Connect 2.0. We are offering this kit for $60.

If you aren't sure what firmware version your system is running, you can check the current PROM Chip. This is a small black chip located in the middle of the system. This FAQ can teach you how to replace an old PROM Chip if needed.

Here is an example of a PROM Chip for a VISTA-20PSIA System. This is basically a VISTA-20P System with some added features put in place to prevent false alarms. Note that this system is running v10.23, which is high enough to use TC2.

If you want to future-proof your VISTA System with an LTE communicator, then we can certainly help you with that as well. We currently offer the Honeywell LTE-XA (AT&T LTE), the Honeywell LTE-XV (Verizon LTE) and the Honeywell LTE-IV (dual-path Verizon LTE and IP ethernet). All of these communicators will extend the life of your VISTA System well into the very distant future.

Keep in mind that a VISTA-15P or VISTA-20P System will need to be running at least firmware version 9.12 to support Total Connect 2.0. A VISTA-21iP must be running at least version 3.13 to support TC2. We offer PROM Chip upgrades for VISTA-21iP Systems here. We do not offer bundled kits for VISTA-21iP PROM Chips. The PROM Chips included in the iGSMV4G-TC2 Kit are for 15P and 20P Systems only.

Remember, we cannot offer overnight orders for either the iGSMV4G or the iGSMV4G-TC2. You must activate these communicators before June 26th. They can remain active until February 2022. After that, you must upgrade to an LTE communicator or use IP only communication. If you have any questions about this sale or these communicators, please contact us at support@alarmgrid.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi DIYers! We're happy to announce that a new product is now available on our site. Introducing the Honeywell 5819S Wireless Shock Sensor and Transmitter. This device is great for any Honeywell or 2GIG user looking for a reliable shock sensor to monitor a door or window for forced entry.

The 5819S offers many great features that help to make it one of the premier wireless shock sensors on the market today. The device is omni-directional, meaning that it can be mounted from any position for reliable performance. This is very useful if you need to mount the sensor horizontally to fit it next to the bottom pane of a double-hung window. Please note that the sensor should not be mounted on the glass itself. The sensor offers four (4) distinct sensitivity levels for use as a shock sensor.

For detection range, the 5819S covers about 10 to 12 feet total. This is roughly a five (5) to six (6) foot radius from the sensor. The exact coverage area can differ due to the mounting surface. For shock detection, you will want to have the sensor programmed using Loop 1. The sensor has three loops in total. The other two (2) loops allow the programmed zone to function strictly as either a wireless contact or as a wireless transmitter for hardwired contacts. Loop 2 is for a contact, and Loop 3 is for a transmitter.

Loop 1 includes the option to have the programmed zone function as both a shock sensor and a wireless contact. This is enabled by setting DIP Switch 4 to ON. If you set DIP Switch 4 to OFF, then Loop 1 will function strictly as a shock sensor. You can also program the sensor to multiple zones using different Loop Numbers if desired. The sensor operates at 345 MHz, and it includes a small magnet for use as a door and window contact. The sensors operates at 345 MHz. LED lights assist with shock sensor testing.

The Honeywell 5819S is available for purchase now on the Alarm Grid site. If you have any questions about this sensor, please email us at support@alarmgrid.com.

Hi DIYers! We are happy to announce that we are now selling encrypted IQ Panel 2 Plus Kits. Each kit includes a brand-new IQ Panel 2 Plus with built-in LTE communicator, two (2) IQ DW MINI-S Encrypted Contacts, a single IQ Motion-S Encrypted Motion Sensor, a transformer and a power cable.

Qolsys iq panel 2 plus at and t lte with powerg s line and legac

Last week, we announced that we are now offering IQ Panel 2 Plus Kits that feature the Versa-GE Door and Window Contacts. While these are excellent door and window sensors, they do not offer encrypted communication. Users who want added security will want to use encrypted sensors whenever possible.

The encrypted sensors included with the encrypted IQ Panel 2 Plus Kits use rolling code encryption. When these sensors are enrolled with compatible encrypted systems, they become synced with the panel. This allows a rolling code to be established. Only the panel and that exact sensor will know what the next rolling code transmission will be.

Currently, we are offering two versions of the encrypted IQ Panel 2 Plus Kits. There is an AT&T LTE option and a Verizon LTE option. Both kits are listed below:

The version of the IQ Panel 2 Plus included in these kits is compatible with the Qolsys S-Line Sensors that use this rolling code encryption. Additionally, it is also compatible with the PowerG Sensors that use 128-bit AES encryption. Both the PowerG Sensors and the Qolsys S-Line Sensors are nearly immune to wireless takeover attacks.

Encrypted sensors like these are perfect for users who want protection against possible hacking attempts. The included system is also backwards compatible with non-encrypted 319.5 MHz sensors. This includes the legacy Qolsys and Interlogix/GE Sensors. Each encrypted Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus Kit listed on our site comes pre-packaged by Qolsys. As a result, we cannot make substitutions for these kits.

At this time, we do not have kits for the 345 MHz IQ Panel 2 Plus or the 433 MHz IQ Panel 2 Plus. If you want either of those systems, you will have to purchase all the components individually. The only encrypted sensors that can be used with those systems are the PowerG Sensors. Both systems include a transformer and a prepared cable for providing power.

We are sure that many customers will love these new encrypted kits! If you have any questions please email us at support@alarmgrid.com. You may also call us at (888) 818-7728 from 9am to 8pm EST M-F to speak to one of our alarm system planners. We look forward to helping you design the perfect system for your home!
